Free Apps for those in LDR

Long distance relationships aren't easy, but these apps have helped me and my bf grow closer even when we are apart.

1. Sumone

Rating: 9/10

This is our favorite one by far! This app has the best questions, in our opinion.
Everyday you answer a question that helps your co-parented egg grow and hatch.
We have answered over 500+ questions without a single repeat, and the questions are creative, interesting, and/or funny.
It's an app that promotes better communication and more words of affirmation.

Checking in daily earns you pebbles to buy accessories for your egg’s room!
A little thing I like about this app is that you can’t see your partner’s answer until you do, promoting more honest and authentic answers.

TLDR: answer the couple question of the day to see your pet grow!

2. Locket

Rating: 9/10

With this widget, you can send live photos to your partner and have it delivered right on their home screen!
It's a good way to see each other despite the time difference.

TLDR: send photos in real time to your partner's home screen widget!

Download it now!

3. Noteit

Rating: 7/10

Noteit is similar to Locket, but you can send drawings and notes as well as photos!
We didn’t end up using it as much because the app sometimes deletes past history if you are unable to maintain a daily streak.

TLDR: send drawings and photos in real time to your partner's home screen widget!

Download it now!

4. Evergreen

Rating: 7/10

evergreen homescreen example

Evergreen gives relationship tips, daily questions, couple quizzes, and weekly emotional check-ins.
We used Evergreen for a long time before switching over to Sumone, but over time, the questions started to become repetitive and a majority of the content is locked for free users. However, Evergreen asked some good questions and the quizzes were fun.
This differs from other apps mentioned because it also has a personal development section: for you to grow outside of your partner.

TLDR: couple quizzes, relationship tips, emotional check ins for you and your partner!

5. Lovify

Rating: 5/10

This app has fun couple quizzes of many categories!
It is fun but, as a free user, you can burn through all the available quizzes pretty quickly.

TLDR: couple quizzes!

6. Widgetable

Rating: 8/10

widgetable homescreen example

Widgetable is an app that helps you customize your lock screen!
We added a widget that allows us to send messages to each other’s lock screens and a countdown for our next reunion, but there are lots of different options available!

TLDR: couple widgets!

7. Givingli

Rating: 8/10

8. Snail mail

Rating: 9/10

*Not an app*
I know everything is online nowadays, but people forget how sentimental and romantic snail mail can be!
It makes my day to see a letter in my mailbox; I have a whole collection of letters and drawings.
Plus, it’s a good excuse to buy new stickers.

TLDR: send mail!
